Here’s my Leupold Rifleman 4-12×40 Review

I wanted to know if the Leupold Rifleman 4-12×40 was worth the money.

So I bought the scope and hand-tested everything from glass clarity to durability. And after thoroughly using this scope for the past few months, I’m pretty impressed.

Here’s why…

First, I’m a huge fan of Leupold optics. This isn’t coming from a biased point of view — I’ve used and still use almost every optic brand out there: Bushnell, Vortex, Burris, etc. It’s just that Leupold optics, like the Leupold VX-R 3-9×40, have always been built with reliability. In fact, I reviewed the top Leupold scopes here.

And the Rifleman 4-12×40 is no exception. It has one of the best glasses in its price range. With a 42mm objective lens, it allows for up to 98% light transmission. This means that you’ll be able to see better in lower light conditions with this scope, making it one of the best hunting optics.

The scope also features an excellent field of view along with a crisp image quality for its price range. In fact, I’m betting you’ll never miss that deer at 550 yards again. This scope has a generous 12x power magnification making it one of the more powerful scopes in the cheap rifle scope category. This scope is very easy to adjust to a field of view that you’d prefer, and the perfect magnification to make a good shot at a variety of distances. The scope also has excellent eye relief making it an easy rifle scoping experience and one of the best Muzzleloader scopes.

The windage and elevation adjustment knobs are rugged and tactile. The aluminum body is extremely sturdy, like the Vortex SPARC series. And since it’s nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed, this optic is completely waterproof and fogproof.

Is the Leupold Rifleman 4-12×40 Scope for you?

This scope is loaded with features for its price range. It has a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer so there’s no buyer’s remorse here. If you’re a hunter or a shooter on a budget, this is one of the best rifle scope you’ll ever own – especially for its price.

If you need a red dot on a budget, I highly recommend the Burris Fastfire 3.

You’ll not only receive the Rifleman 4-12×40 with rings, but you’ll also receive one set of Leupold rings so you can start shooting immediately. Overall, the Leupold Rifleman 4-12×40 is one of the best cheap rifle scopes you can buy. It combines toughness and durability with simplicity and ease of use to make this scope an all-around great product.

  1. I just bougjt a 6.5 creedmoor, and leopold is one of my top brand. So I was wondering if this for me. I had a vortex scope and didn’t have any problem with it. But for some reason, I prefer Leopold, and I want to be able to purchase one for this srason
