The EOTech EXPS3 is the best holographic sight for close to medium range shooting.
In fact:
It’s the shortest and lightest holographic sight with night vision compatibility on the market.
In this EOTech EXPS3 review, I’ll cover every feature, from glass clarity to durability, to help you decide if this sight is for you.

Here’s my EOTech EXPS3 Review
The EOTech EXPS3 is a versatile holographic weapon sight with night vision capability.
While it doesn’t compare to an ACOG for long range, it does offer elevated precision at medium and close range with lower iron sight access.
On top of that, the EOTech reticle allows for rapid target acquisition and works as one of the better short-range night vision devices.
As a verified purchase for short to medium range, the EXPS3 works perfectly.

Glass Clarity & Reticle
The glass clarity on the 1 MOA dot EOTech holographic weapon sight is excellent.
The lenses have an anti-reflective coating that cuts down on glare and allows you to get a crystal clear sight picture.

But what about the reticle?

That’s where the EOTech really shines. It has a 68 MOA ring & 1 MOA dot reticle that makes target acquisition a breeze. I prefer this setup to the 65 MOA ring & 2 MOA red dot reticle you’ll get on the Holosun reflex sight.
It’s also extremely effective for multiple weapon use. I’ve switched my EOTech back and forth from a shotgun to an AR-15 and it’s great for both.
Plus, the EOTech has multiple brightness settings and is night vision compatible. It even has 10 night vision settings, which is a huge difference from the Vortex Sparc 2 and Strikefire 2, with only 2 levels.

When it comes to night vision devices with fantastic reticle clarity, the EOTech holographic weapon sight delivers.
Eye Relief & Eye Box
This optic offers unlimited eye relief.
This allows for two eyes open shooting anytime you need to stay aware of your surroundings. Just get your dot and fast-moving targets and you’re ready to go.

The EOTech EXPS3 has a wide sight box, unlike the tubes you’ll be looking through on most red dot sights, offering a large sight picture.
Durability
The EOTech’s compact design is ruggedly durable and built to last.

It’s water-resistant and can be submerged up to 33 feet! I’ve dropped my EOTech in a puddle a time or two and haven’t had any problems.
It’s O-ring sealed, which won’t allow water, dust, dirt, or anything inside the optic. It’s also shockproof and fogproof.
While you might pay less for an EOTech clone, you definitely won’t get the same kind of durability.
On another note, the EOTech is powered by a CR123 battery, which can last 500 to 1,000 hours of continuous runtime at the nominal setting. Illumination can be adjusted with side buttons

Plus, you’ll never have to worry about your EOTech running out when you need it, as the reticle flickers when your CR123 battery gets low to warn you ahead of time.

It’s simple and easy to replace, too!
Elevation & Windage Knobs
The elevation and windage dials give an audible click when you adjust them.

The dials are easy to access on the side of the sight and adjust ½ MOA per click.

On the other side, you’ll find the brightness adjustment buttons and the night vision switch.

There’s also a quick detach throw lever on that side, for quick weapon changes.

Parallax & Magnification
The EOTech EXPS3 offers a 1x fixed magnification.
Even with this magnification, the EOTech offers better accuracy at close and medium ranges than iron sights or similar products, unless you add on a magnifier.
It’s red dot reticle is also parallax-free, offering a clear, focused sight picture at all times and has night vision capability.

Mounting & Rings
The EOTech comes with a quick detach lever that fits 1″ weaver and MIL-STD 1913 rails, so you’ll have everything you need. Here’s a quick video by Brownells explaining how to mount it:
The rail space allows for lower iron sight access.

It even comes with a CR123 battery!
The only thing you’ll need to buy is a magnifier, if you want to bump up your range a bit. I’d recommend the EOTech G33 because it fits perfectly with this holographic sight.

- G33 Magnifier
Price
The EXPS3 is $677 on Amazon as a verified purchase, which is a little over $100 more than the previous EXPS2, which has very similar features.
However, the EXPS2 is not night vision compatible, which is a deal breaker for me.
Is the EOTech EXPS3 Holographic Weapon Sight for you?
If you’re looking for an easy to use holographic weapon sight with fast target acquisition, look no further than a verified purchase of the EOTech EXPS3.
It has:
- Crystal clear glass
- Quick detach locking lever
- Short & lightweight design with easy installation
- 20 daylight brightness levels
- 10 levels of night vision compatibility
- Battery life 1,000 continuous hours
- 68 MOA ring & 1 MOA dot reticle
The EOTech EXPS3 is a great deal if you’re tracking close-range, fast-moving targets. Try two eyes open shooting yourself and you’ll be the envy of the range.

Very nice review 👌
I have an Eotech 512 topping a Mosberg 530
12 gauge and it works perfect.
After your review Im thinking of buying an EXPS3 and a magnifier G33 for my Benelli M1014
Keep on doing reviews!!!
Thanks .
I’ve got the exps3-4 with the g33 magnifier on my DDM4pdw and it’s a sweet set up!
Do eotech EXPS3 OR EXPS2 are compatible with a Vortex magnifier ? Or I need the eotech magnifier ?
Should be compatible; the main issue would be height adjustment most likely. Focal lenght/focus distance shouldn’t be a problem, and the Vortex has adjustable diopter ring correct?
I purchased one and absolutely love it, six shots and I had it dialed in. the EXP S3 is awesome!
Try two eyes open shooting yourself? I’d rather have my eyes closed if I shoot myself.
Researching optics for my M1A SOCOM 16 and everything is coming up EOTECH EXPS3.
