Summary
The EXPS3 sits on my main rifle for good reason. After two years of hard use, including competitions, training courses, and too many range trips to count, this sight has never let me down. Yeah, the battery life sucks compared to modern red dots. I probably spend $25 a year on CR123s.
But when I need to make a shot count, whether that’s hitting steel at 200 yards with a magnifier or clearing a shoot house, the EXPS3 delivers. The reticle is perfect, the durability is proven, and that QD mount actually returns to zero.

Summary
Six months with the UH-1 Gen II and it’s become my favorite AR optic. The thing just works. Better battery life than any EOTech, built like a tank, and that integrated QD mount is brilliant. At around $500 it’s actually cheaper than the EXPS3 too.
Is it perfect? No. It’s still heavy compared to a red dot. Battery life is good for a holographic but nothing like the 50,000 hours you get from an Aimpoint. And some people notice a slight comet tail on the reticle that I honestly don’t see.
But for running and gunning with an AR-15, this sight is nearly perfect. Fast, accurate, tough as nails. If Vortex made this exact sight but 3 ounces lighter, it would be the only optic I’d ever recommend.
